Happy Birthday Dad!

Today was Dad's special day!  :)  We celebrated it the best we could by making a really rich German Chocolate Cake with FOUR sticks of butter.  It was our first time really decorating a cake and had to improvise the icing and design.  I guess I'm more Jackson Pollock than Norman Rockwell.

We then went out to celebrate to a nice steak house and toasted the big guy with a BEEFEATER Martini on the rocks with two olives.

In honor of Dad I also got his favorite flower: White Carnations:

I haven't been on here as much as I liked since being sickened by the antibiotic Cipro and can't believe it's been already nine months of trying to heal from the disaster that has befallen my body.  The past four months I have spent bedridden trying to regain strength in my muscles and tendons.  It hasn't been easy but I know that you are with me Pop.  I love and miss you so very much.

I hope you enjoyed the birthday celebration we put on for you.  God bless you and I can't wait to see you again.

First Year Anniversary of Change

So we do not lose heart. Though our outer self is wasting away, our inner self is being renewed day by day. For this light momentary affliction is preparing for us an eternal weight of glory beyond all comparison, as we look not to the things that are seen but to the things that are unseen. For the things that are seen are transient, but the things that are unseen are eternal.
